- Herring — to buy4 filets
- Potato — to buy800 g
- Onion — to buy2
- Cream — to buy30 cl
- Pepper — to buy1 pincée
Preparation
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices, about 3 mm thick.
Finely slice the onion.
Butter a gratin dish, layer potatoes, then onion, then a few pieces of drained marinated herring fillet. Repeat the layers.
Season with pepper between layers (the herring already brings salt).
Pour the cream over everything until it just reaches the top of the potatoes.
Bake at 200°C for 45 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the top is nicely golden.
Let rest 5 minutes before serving with rye bread and a green salad.
