- White cabbage — to buy1
- Ground beef — to buy400 g
- Rice — to buy100 g
- Onion — to buy1
- Egg — to buy1
- Paprika — to buy1 c. à s.
- Tomato paste — to buy200 g
- Feuille de laurier — to buy1 feuille
- Cream — to buy15 cl
Preparation
Remove the core of the cabbage and plunge it whole into a large pot of boiling water for 2 minutes to soften the outer leaves, then peel them off one by one.
Mix the ground beef, partly-cooked rice, chopped onion, egg, paprika, salt and pepper.
Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each cabbage leaf, fold in the sides then roll up tightly to form a small parcel.
Arrange the stuffed cabbage rolls snugly side by side in a Dutch oven, packing them so they don't come undone while cooking.
Cover with tomato sauce diluted with a little stock, add a bay leaf.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 1 hour, until the cabbage is tender and the rice fully cooked.
Serve hot with a spoonful of sour cream on top.
